Dragiša Ćalić coordinates the provision of free legal aid at the Lawyers’ Committee for Human Rights – YUCOM and works on initiatives to enhance access to justice. He earned his law degree from the Faculty of Law at the University of Belgrade and passed the bar exam afterwards.
Dragiša’s involvement in human rights began in 2007 when he volunteered at a camp in Malawi for children orphaned by HIV. Since 2014, he has worked as Deputy Local Ombudsman, advocating for the protection of human rights. In March 2020, he joined YUCOM as part of its free legal aid team.
An expert in access to justice, Dragiša focuses on ensuring citizens’ right to free legal aid and improving the functionality of the free legal aid system in Serbia. He also analyzes obstacles faced by vulnerable groups in exercising their rights, with a particular emphasis on identifying and addressing gaps in the legislative framework.
