Jovana Spremo

Jovana Spremo is Advocacy Director at the Lawyers’ Committee for Human Rights – YUCOM, where she leads the organization’s advocacy initiatives focused on public policies related to justice and human rights protection. She began her education at the Faculty of Political Sciences at the University of Belgrade, earning a diploma in international relations. Following this, she obtained a master’s degree in the interdisciplinary program for International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights Law. Jovana furthered her academic efforts by completing a master’s degree in European integrations at the Faculty of Law of the University of Belgrade.

As the coordinator of the Working Group for Chapter 23 of the National Convention on the European Union, Jovana actively contributes to Serbia’s European integration process. Her expertise lies in the rule of law, with a particular focus on the EU negotiation process, specifically related to topics such as the judiciary, democratic institutions, and war crimes. Additionally, her work covers human rights, fundamental freedoms, transitional justice, and reconciliation.

Jovana is also engaged in monitoring the implementation of the Brussels Agreement and the process of normalizing relations between Serbia and Kosovo, with a particular emphasis on ensuring access to justice. In 2024, Jovana was named a European Young Leader and is an alumna of several international and regional programs. These include the OSCE Academy for Young Women’s Dialogue and the Genocide and Mass Violence Reporting Program organized by the International Academy for Nuremberg Principles.

She has written several publications and reports on various topics related to the rule of law and human rights.
