Dear Sir/Madam,
The Lawyers’ Committee for Human Rights – YUCOM, together with its partner, the Belgrade Centre for Security Policy (BCBP), invites you to attend the conference marking the presentation of the Report on Attacks on Human Rights Defenders in Serbia for 2025. The conference will take place on Wednesday, 11 March 2026, starting at 11:00 AM, at Hotel Metropol (Nikola Tesla B Conference Room), Belgrade. The event is organized within the framework of the initiative Strengthening Human Rights Defenders to Safeguard Democracy in Serbia, supported by UNDEF.
Based on data collected through the Map of Incidents, the Report on Attacks on Human Rights Defenders in Serbia for 2025 provides a comprehensive overview of cases of pressure, threats, and attacks, as well as the responses of relevant institutions. Participants from the domestic and international community will be presented with information on the current situation and position of human rights defenders in Serbia.
The discussion will focus on these challenges and risks, as well as on the role of national and international protection mechanisms, with keynote contributions from:
- Ms. Mary Lawlor, UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights defenders (online).
The official languages of the conference will be Serbian and English, with simultaneous interpretation provided. The detailed agenda will be shared in the coming days. The Report will be available following the event.
Please send your registration, or the registration of a representative from your organization/institution, by Tuesday, 10 March 2026, at 2:00 PM, via link, via email: office@yucom.org.rs or confirm by phone at +381 11 33 44 235.
We believe that your participation will contribute to an in-depth discussion on the current situation of human rights defenders in Serbia, the key findings of the Report, and its conclusions and recommendations, and will support efforts to strengthen their protection.
Kind regards,
Lawyers’ Committee for Human Rights – YUCOM
